“Altitude: Important Sports Collectibles” was Sotheby’s latest auction of legendary sports collectibles. Along with “The Great One” (a Wayne Gretzky ‘Final Career Game’ New York Rangers game worn jersey), there were 53 lots up for auction on September 30, 2025 including jerseys, game used sneakers & balls, graded trading cards, autographs, and more!
Other highlights of the evening included Kobe Bryant’s ‘Number 24 Debut’ game worn & signed jersey (which sold for $889,000) and a pair of Michael Jordan signed & graded Upper Deck trading cards (each selling for $203,200). In total, more than $4 million in collectibles found new homes, with bidding taking place in person in New York City (above), over the phone, and online. The atmosphere was electrifying as onlookers waited to see who would walk away with these historic pieces.
